POLO Dubai assures guaranteed entry for Filipinos with flight tickets

DUBAI – The Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Dubai (POLO Dubai) has issued an advisory assuring “guaranteed entry” for Filipinos with confirmed flights to the Philippines.

According to POLO Dubai, it will accommodate Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who will seek contract verification services at office a day before their confirmed flight to the Philippines. POLO Dubai also said it will accommodate authorized representative of OFWs.

A verified contract is needed for an OFW to be issued an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC), which is required to allow them to return to their workplace after visiting the Philippines.

As Expatmedia.net first reported, POLO Dubai imposed a “no appointment, no entry” policy beginning on May 4 following a surge in the number of OFWs seeking employment contract verification services.

POLO Dubai, however, said it will grant exemptions in “emergency cases”. OFWs with confirmed or approved appointments will continue to be served and prioritized.

In its latest advisory, POLO Dubai said that OFWs seeking services a day ahead of their flight will be considered “emergency cases” and will be given service even if they were not able to secure an online appointment.

Those with flights scheduled on Saturday, Sunday and Monday may come to POLO Dubai on Friday.

In case POLO Dubai is closed for any reason, Filipinos with confirmed flights can visit the office on the nearest working day.

“For example, if your flight is on a Friday but POLO Dubai is closed on Thursday, you can come on Wednesday,” Labor Attaché John Rio Bautista advised.

POLO Dubai will also allow authorized representatives of OFWs to process the verification of their employment contract in case they have already travelled to the Philippines. During their visit, representatives must bring their authorization letter from the OFW.

“Their authorized representative will be allowed to visit POLO Dubai three days prior to the OFW’s OEC appointment schedule in the Philippines, or five days before their scheduled flight to the UAE, whichever comes early,” according to POLO Dubai.

POLO Dubai “strongly discouraged” Filipinos to queue outside the premises hours before the office’s opening hours. It is open from Monday to Thursday, from 7:30am to 3:30pm; and on Friday, from 7:30am to 12pm. ICA/Expat Media
