Arriving in Dubai? Covid-19 travel rules for residents, tourists explained

 

DUBAI – The Dubai Media Office has clarified new rules for UAE residents and tourists arriving in Dubai amid Covid-19 travel measures in place.

Here’s all you need to know

For Emiratis, UAE residence visa holders

Do Emiratis, expats need prior approval to enter Dubai?

Yes. Dubai residence visa holders can apply through the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), while holders of residence visas issued from other emirates will need to apply through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) website.

Do I need a Covid-19 test prior to my flight?

By August 1, all travelers arriving in UAE must present a negative Covid-19 test taken not more than 96 hours prior to their flight.

Is there mandatory PCR test for Emiratis and residents on arrival in Dubai?

Yes. Emiratis and UAE residence visa holders will undergo mandatory Covid-19 PCR test on arrival at the Dubai airport. It is free of cost. By August 1, only people from 29 countries will undergo mandatory nasal swab when they land in Dubai.

Are there forms to submit and mobile apps to download?

Yes. Arriving passengers must sign a health declaration form and download the Covid-19 DXB app.

Is quarantine mandatory for Emiratis, expats arriving in Dubai?

Emiratis and UAE residence visa holders arriving in Dubai are required to undergo quarantine until their test result shows they are “negative” of coronavirus.

Do I need a visa to enter the UAE?

Yes. You need full entry visa requirement to visit the UAE.

What should do prior to my flight to Dubai?

You must download the Covid-19 DXB app to register your details to health authorities.

Do I need to have health insurance?

Yes. You need to have a valid international health insurance in order to enter the UAE.

Do I need to undergo Covid-19 testing prior to my flight to Dubai?

Yes. Tourists must do a PCR test for Covid-19 with a maximum validity of four days or 96 hours prior to their date of departure. They will be required to show proof of not being infected with the virus on arrival at Dubai airports.

What if I can not provide Covid-19 test results?

You will undergo a PCR test at the airport.

Are there forms I need to fill?

Yes. You need to fill the Health Declaration Form before embarking on your flight.

What if I develop Covid-19 symptoms?

You will not be allowed to board your flight if you display any Covid-19 symptoms.

What will happen when I arrive at the Dubai airport?

You will be subjected to thermal screening.

Will I be quarantined on arrival in Dubai?

If you arrive in Dubai with a valid Covid-19 test report showing a negative test result taken not more than 96 hours prior to your flight, then you do not need to undergo quarantine. If the test is done on arrival at the Dubai airport, you will need to wait in quarantine until your test report is out, and shows you are negative of coronavirus.

What if I show Covid-19 symptoms at the airport?

If you develop Covid-19 symptoms, Dubai Airports medical personnel will test you to ensure you are free of coronavirus.

What if I test positive for Covid-19?

You must register your details on the COVID-19 DXB app and isolate yourself at a government provided facility for 14 days at your own expense. ICA/Expat Media
