Expired UAE residence visas, visit visas to remain valid this 2020

 

DUBAI – All visas, entry permits and Emirates IDs issued in the UAE will remain valid until December 31, 2020, a government official said.

Colonel Khamis Al Kaabi, spokesperson of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, said on Monday that the new directive is effective from March 1.

Al Kaabi said “all visas and entry permits – expiring on March 1 – shall remain valid until the end of December, 2020.”

Residence visa holders, including those outside the UAE, with visas expiring on or after March 1 will have valid visas until the end of 2020. Al Kaabi said the validity of all expiring visas and Emirates IDs will be automatically extended until December 31.

The latest directive follows an April 5 announcement by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that fines for anyone with expired residence visas will be cancelled throughout 2020.
