UAE warns against scams targeting jobseekers, pet lovers

Police in Abu Dhabi have warned the public against a growing number of scams targeting jobseekers or pet lovers.

According to Abu Dhabi Police, a rising number of scams involve fake jobs and fake offers of pets for sale or for adoption.

Police said fraudsters use social media to lure residents with deceptive offers and ads that lead to fake websites designed to capture their banking details.

Advertisements of pets for sale or for adoption have become prevalent on social media, and scammers often ask for shipping fees and insurance expenses.

On jobs, scammers charge unsuspecting jobseekers “processing fees” for employment opportunities that would later turn out to be non-existent.

Abu Dhabi Police urged the public to never share confidential information, including their bank account details, passwords, CCVs and other personal information. ICA/Expat Media
