DUBAI – The Tala dance craze popularized by Filipino singer and actress Sarah Geronimo has reached Africa where a group of dancers joined in on the internet craze.
In a video uploaded on YouTube, dancers from Aim Global wowed netizens as they danced to the beat of Geronimo’s catchy song about star-struck love.
The video has already gotten 962,255 views as of Sunday (February 2).
“OMG! This brings me joy! Thank you for appreciating Filipino Music (OPM) that performance was full of energy and smiles, you made my day!” Niel Tsui wrote.
Angelo Gumnad, described it as “100% beautiful”. “The smiles are so infectious that I’m still smiling and loving their cover,” Gumnad said.
Tala was released as the lead single from Geronimo’s platinum album, The Great Unknown, in 2016. It became an instant hit in the airwaves.
It only recently became a viral dance hit, with the public posting their version of the dance on social media.
Geronimo, in recent interviews, thanked her fans for the song’s resurgence. “I had always envisioned it to be a dance craze. I never thought it would become one years after it first came out,” she told media in Filipino.
