Jennylyn Mercado’s longtime manager Becky Aguila has delivered one of the strongest responses yet to Patrick Garcia after the actor publicly revisited his past relationship with the actress.

Garcia spoke about their 2008 breakup in an interview with Ogie Diaz aired on Tuesday (September 29), explaining that he decided to tell his side after his daughter Michelle became upset over online bashing connected to his past with Mercado.

Aguila responded directly to Garcia in a Facebook post on Wednesday (September 30), making it clear that she was speaking as someone who has been close to Mercado for years.

“Hi Patrick. Long time no see or talk/text. What a shocking revelation. I am posting this not as Jen’s manager, but as her second mom,” Aguila wrote in Filipino.

She questioned why Garcia chose a public interview rather than reaching out privately. “Why did you have to resort to an interview? Even though Tita Lydia is no longer here, I am still here,” she said.

Aguila said she did not want to hurt Garcia or damage his image but was upset on Mercado’s behalf.“I don’t want to hurt you or damage your image, but I am hurting for Jen,” she said.

She then questioned Garcia’s decision to speak publicly while trying to protect his daughter from online criticism. “With all your shortcomings toward Jen, especially toward Jazz, you chose to do an interview to protect your daughter from bashers at the expense of Jen and Jazz,” Aguila said.

Aguila said Garcia could have contacted her if he wanted to address concerns about the past. “If you had concerns, you should have reached out to me and we could have sorted this out with Jen and Dennis. They are easy to talk to,” she said.

“There are a lot of things you did to hurt her, and she never told anyone about them out of respect for you, because you are the father of her child, and also out of respect for your family, who have been living peacefully,” Aguila said, adding, “But I remember all of them.”

Aguila then disputed Garcia’s public account of the relationship. “I’m sorry, Patrick, but there are many things missing and added to your version of the truth,” she said.

Aguila questioned whether Garcia’s decision to speak publicly had achieved what he wanted for his daughter. “I hope this helped your daughter,” she said, “And hopefully you are satisfied with all the things you’ve done.”

Aguila ended the lengthy post with her most direct criticism of Garcia. “All I can say is that you never deserved Jen’s love in the first place. And you will never earn my respect,” she said.

Garcia has offered a different account of the breakup, saying he did not abandon Mercado during her pregnancy. He acknowledged that he was not present during the pregnancy but said he believed Mercado did not want him involved.

“I was never there for Jen during her pregnancy, not because I didn’t want to be there, but because she didn’t want me to be there,” Garcia said. He also denied the accusation that he simply left Mercado.

Garcia said his decision to revisit the past was prompted by the online treatment of Michelle, his daughter with wife Nikka Martinez. According to Garcia, Michelle told him she was sad because positive comments about her were being overtaken by people attacking her because of his past.

He ultimately decided to tell his version of events, describing it as a story he had kept to himself for 18 years. “That’s my story. This is the story I’ve been holding for 18 years that I haven’t told,” he said.

Jennylyn declines to respond

Despite the strong response from her longtime manager, Mercado herself has chosen not to publicly answer Garcia’s account.

Aguila Entertainment said the actress would not comment on or grant interviews regarding Garcia’s statements. The agency said Mercado preferred to protect the privacy and peace of mind of both families and also asked the public to stop attacking Garcia and his family.

The dispute has now brought three different responses from Mercado’s camp: the actress has chosen silence, her manager has directly challenged Garcia’s account, and her husband, Dennis Trillo, has called for an end to the bashing while appearing to question the timing of Garcia’s renewed focus on Jazz.
