The UAE traffic law imposes fines and penalties on motorists speeding on roads as part of measures to curb traffic accidents in the country.
According to UAE police, speeding is among the top causes of deadly accidents in the country. But this doesn’t mean that motorists driving slowly are safe from fines. In fact, there is also a Dh400 fine for motorists who drive below the minimum speed limit as they can also cause unnecessary traffic,which can lead to accidents.
Here’s the full list of traffic fines for speeding offences in the UAE:
Exceeding speed limit by up to 20km/h: Dh300
Exceeding speed limit by 21km/h to 30km/h: Dh600
Exceeding speed limit by 31km/h to 40km/h: Dh700
Exceeding speed limit by 41km/h to 50km/h: Dh1,000
Exceeding speed limit by 51km/h to 60km/h: Dh1,500, 6 black points and 15-day impound
Exceeding speed limit by 61km/h to 80km/h: Dh2,000, 12 black points, 30-day impound
Exceeding speed limit by over 80km/h: Dh3,000 fine, 23 black points and 60-day impound
