UAE: Jail, Dh50k fine for sheltering juvenile offenders

Sheltering juvenile offenders or delinquent minors in the UAE is punishable with jail time and a fine of no less than Dh50,000, authorities said.

According to Ras Al Khaimah Police, stiff penalties under the federal law await anyone caught protecting or sheltering delinquent minors. Under the UAE law, minors are individuals aged 18 or younger.

The law pertains to minors who are either delinquent or at the “risk of delinquency”. Inciting a minor to commit a violation is also a crime.

The law also extends to those who help a minor run away from home, or are found with a runaway minor without alerting authorities. ICA/Expat Media
