ABU DHABI – UAE residents who have been vaccinated for Covid-19 will undergo a set of screening protocols when they enter Abu Dhabi, and in order to be eligible for exemptions.
The rules, which went into effect on Sunday (January 17), apply to volunteers in UAE’s Covid-19 vaccine trials and those who have been vaccinated as part of the UAE vaccination campaign.
To qualify for the screening protocols and exemptions, volunteers and vaccinated individuals must have an active gold star or E icon on their Alhosn app.
On the Alhosn app, an active gold star icon will appear for volunteers, while an E icon will appear for those who have taken the vaccine, after they undergo a PCR test upon completing the vaccination. The icons will remain valid for seven days.
This means that vaccinated individuals will need to have weekly PCR tests if they want to qualify for exemptions. Periodic testing is not required for vaccinated individuals, but volunteers will need to undertake any tests required by the Covid-19 vaccine trials.
For vaccinated individuals and volunteers arriving from “green” countries, or countries that are not on the UAE’s restricted travel list, a PCR test is required on arrival. They will also need to undergo another PCR test on the sixth day of their stay in Abu Dhabi. However, they do not need to undergo quarantine.
For vaccinated individuals arriving from all other countries, a PCR test is required on arrival in Abu Dhabi, followed by a second one on the eight day of their stay, as well as a 10-day quarantine period.
Vaccinated individuals who were in close contact with a Covid-19 case must undergo a 5-day quarantine period and take a PCR test on the fourth day. If the result is negative, the quarantine can end. ICA/Expat Media
