The Etihad Rail. ARCHIVE
Etihad Rail passengers arriving in Dubai can now add a Nol One-Day Pass to their train booking, making it easier to continue their journey by Metro, Tram or bus without arranging a separate ticket.
The pass starts at Dh22 and can be added when booking an Etihad Rail journey, as the national passenger service prepares to expand to Dubai from Wednesday (September 30). The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirms that the Nol pass can be booked alongside Etihad Rail travel.
The new option is particularly useful for passengers travelling beyond Dubai’s Etihad Rail station. Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates is connected to Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line, giving passengers a link to Dubai’s wider public transport network. The Regular Nol One-Day Pass costs Dh22, while the Gold option costs Dh42.
Gold pass holders can use the first-class cabins on Dubai Metro and Tram. Importantly, passengers can select the Gold Nol pass regardless of the class booked on their Etihad Rail journey.
The combined booking also simplifies the transfer. Passengers receive a single QR code for the rail journey and Nol pass, available through the Etihad Rail app and booking confirmation email. The Nol pass can be used for eligible journeys on Dubai Metro’s Red and Green lines, Dubai Tram and RTA public buses within the applicable zones.
You do not have to use it on the same day
One useful detail for travellers is that the Nol One-Day Pass does not have to be activated on the day of the train trip.
The QR code remains valid for up to 90 days from the date of purchase. Once it is first tapped, however, the pass becomes valid for that calendar day until midnight, rather than for 24 hours.
This means a passenger could complete an Etihad Rail trip and activate the Dubai public transport pass on a later date, provided it is within the 90-day validity period.
How to add the pass
When booking an Etihad Rail journey, passengers can select the Nol One-Day Pass under End-to-End Journey Options before completing the booking. They can choose either the Regular or Gold option.
Passengers can also start through RTA’s smart channels, including Nol Pay and S’hail, and select the Etihad Rail option before being redirected to Etihad Rail’s booking channels. ICA/Expat Media
