Emiratisation in UAE private sector companies: fines begin for violators

Fines for violators of the UAE’s Emiratisation law for private sector companies were rolled out on January 1, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced.

Under the Emiratisation target, private sector companies in the UAE that have 50 or more employees must hire Emiratis to make up two percent of their total workforce.

Companies that fail to meet this target will be fined Dh6,000 per month, with Dh72,000 as annual contribution for every UAE national not appointed.

“The Emiratisation support is carried out through two tracks – the first is to expand the base of jobs available to nationals in the private sector, and the second is to build a safety net that supports them in their career path,” according to MOHRE. ICA/Expat Media
