The emirate that residents used to call “sleepy Ajman” is definitely awake and is rising into a major travel hotspot in the UAE.
In the first five months of 2022 alone, Ajman attracted 237,000 visitors, according to Ajman Tourism Development Department.
Hotel occupancy rates also reached 65 percent in the first five months of 2022, with tourist numbers expected to rise during the summer period. Ajman has some of the best hotels and resorts in the UAE, including The Oberoi Beach Resort in Al Zora. Read our review here
Khadija Turki, Acting Director-General of Ajman Tourism, said Ajman’s tourism sector is receiving significant attention due to development in its tourism services.
Turki said Ajman has also developed its sports tourism and adventure tourism, while offering cultural, heritage and entertainment experiences that help it attract regional and international tourists.
Ajman has some of the best heritage buildings in the UAE, including the Ajman Museum, the Masfout Museum and the Manama Museum.
Expos and events are also easier to organize in Ajman, with Ajman Tourism offering “innovative solutions” for investors in the tourism sector. ICA/Expat Media
