Abu Dhabi man to pay Dh687,000 to ex-girlfriend for rent, traffic fines

A court in Abu Dhabi has ordered a man to pay Dh687,000 to his ex-girlfriend who lent him the money to pay for his house rent, traffic fines and other expenses.

The Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court ruled in favour of the ex-girlfriend, who demanded that the man repay the amount to her as well as an interest rate of 12 percent.

The woman said that they were still in a relationship when he borrowed money from her, but that he delayed in paying his debts.

She gave the court evidence to prove her claim, including screenshots of their WhatsApp conversations, bank account statements, bank transfer receipts and payment receipts for traffic fines. ICA/Expat Media
