8 ways to live in UAE without sponsor

The UAE has made major changes to its visa law, making it easier for people to live here without a guarantor or sponsor.

There are now self-sponsorship options to help you apply for your visa on your own. Here are the visa categories that don’t require a sponsor.

Golden visa

The Golden Visa is a residence visa that allows you to stay in the UAE for 10 years. The visa will not be invalid if the holder stays outside the UAE for more than six months.

– Renewable every 10 years
– Sponsor family members
– Sponsor unlimited number of domestic workers
– In event of Golden Visa holder’s death, allows family members to stay in UAE until visa expires.

Investors, entrepreneurs, exceptional talents, scientists and professionals, outstanding students and graduates, humanitarian pioneers, frontline workers. Find out more

Multi-entry tourist visa

Unlike the regular tourist visa, the multi-entry tourist visa is valid for five years.

This five-year tourist visa allows you to enter and leave the UAE multiple times within its validity. Visa holders can stay in the UAE for up to 90 continuous days, which may be extended for a similar period, provided that the entire period of stay does not exceed 180 days in one year.

To apply, you need to provide a copy of a health insurance valid in the UAE, and a copy of your bank statement showing a balance of at least $4,000 (Dh14,692) or its equivalent in foreign currencies in the last six months. You can apply for the visa on the ICA website icp.gov.ae

Green visa

Green visas are granted to skilled professionals and exceptional talents and allow the holder five years of residency. Candidates must have a monthly income of Dh15,000 and a bachelor’s degree in science, law, education, culture, or social sciences, among others. Find out more

Skilled workers, freelancers, entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals

Remote work visa

Dubai’s virtual working scheme lets you live and work in the emirate under your own residence visa that is valid for one year. This visa also allows you to sponsor your family to live and study in the UAE. Find out more

Who can get this visa?
Professionals with valid remote employment, and business owners

Real estate owner’s visa

This residence visa is given to anyone who invests in real estate in UAE valued at Dh2 million or more. The visa is valid for 10 years and is renewable, and allows the visa holder to sponsor their spouse and children.

Retirement residency visa

The Dubai retirement residency visa is a multi-entry visa valid for five years. The renewable retirement visa is open to retired applicants who are at least 55 years old. They must also have a minimum yearly income of Dh180,000 or Dh1 million in a 3-year fixed savings deposit or property valued at Dh1 million.

Multiple entry interim visa

This six-month visa is given to those who are in the process of completing their Golden Visa application so they can settle down in the country. It also allows holders to travel in and out of the UAE multiple times. During this period, visa holders are required to convert their temporary visa into a residency permit. There are no age or nationality restrictions for Golden Visa applications.

UAE business entry visa

This type enables easy entry without requiring sponsor or host to encourage investors and entrepreneurs to explore business and investment opportunities in the UAE.
