DUBAI – Cathy Garcia-Molina’s new film, “Hello, Love, Goodbye”, starring Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, has surpassed box office records for Filipino films.
The romantic comedy amassed P250.04 million (Dh17.86 million) in less than a week since its initial release at cinemas, according to Star Cinema. It raked in P34.5 million (Dh2.4 million) on its first day, holding the record for this year’s highest-grossing film on an opening day.
The movie is now showing in the UAE and in 480 cinemas globally. It tells the love story of Joy (Bernardo) and Ethan (Richards), Filipino workers based in Hong Kong.
Ethan, a bartender, is keen on romantically pursuing Joy, a domestic helper who is focused on providing for her family.
The film has won the hearts of viewers, with 96 percent saying they enjoyed the film. It also scored an impressive 8.7/10 rating from movie website IDMB. LKA/Expat Media
