Man, 2 trapped in Sharjah wadi floods rescued

DUBAI – Three people swept by floods in Sharjah have been rescued as heavy rainfall sparked severe flooding in wadis, authorities said on Wednesday (May 27).

The rescue effort happened as rain of varying intensities continued to hit parts of Sharjah and the rest of the UAE this week.

In one of the wadis, Sharjah Police airlifted to safety two people who were trapped in the rushing waters. A child was also rescued by residents in the area.

A video by the National Search and Rescue Centre (NSRC) showed a man being pulled up into a helicopter by a rescuer.
