The UAE has won an international award for its new Dh1,000 banknote.
The Best New Banknote award was given to the UAE Central Bank at the Banknote and ID Document of the Year Awards in Abu Dhabi.
The UAE’s Dh1,000 banknote won for its unique design, technical characteristics and innovative security features.
The UAE Central Bank unveiled the new Dh1,000 currency note last year as part of the country’s 51st National Day celebrations.
The banknote became available in Central Bank branches and ATMs in the first half of 2023, while the current Dh1,000 note will continue to be in circulation.
The new Dh1,000 banknote is made of polymer material and has three-dimensional designs.
The front of the banknote depicts the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan next to a model of a space shuttle.
Technologically, the banknote has advanced security features, and uses multi-coloured KINEGRAM for counterfeiting prevention and authenticity verification. ICA/Expat Media
