AL AIN – A motorist driving under the influence of mood-altering substances has been ordered by the court to pay Dh30,000 to the family of a girl injured in the car crash that he caused.
According to records, the motorists was driving recklessly in Al Ain when his car crashed into another vehicle where the victim was traveling with her family.
The child suffered severe injuries to her forehead and elbow and was admitted to a local hospital.
Records showed that the motorist is a repeat offender and had been previously convicted for a similar incident.
Police said that during the latest incident, the motorist was distracted and had violated traffic rules. He was also found driving under the influence of psychotropic substances.
The Al Ain Civil Court of First Instance ordered him to pay Dh30,000 to the victim’s mother as compensation for physical and financial damages. CHA/Expat Media
