The UAE’s Ministry of Economy has approved a temporary increase in the prices of eggs and chicken products by a maximum of 13 percent.
“This step was taken in response to a request submitted by a number of companies operating in this field in the country to the Ministry of Economy to raise prices, on the grounds that they incurred large losses during the last period due to high production costs,” according to the Ministry of Economy in a statement on Saturday (March 18).
The ministry emphasized that the price increase is temporary, and will be evaluated within six months.
The ministry noted that the temporary price hike would ensure that suppliers will be able to meet consumer needs in the UAE without a decrease in the supply. ICA/Expat Media
