The UAE has expressed its condolences to the Philippines after four pilots were killed when two military training aircraft crashed at an air base south of Manila.
In a statement on Sunday (October 25), the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) conveyed its sincere sympathy to the victims’ families and to the Philippine government and people following the tragedy.
The two Philippine Air Force SF-260 trainer aircraft crashed on Friday (October 23) during a training flight at Fernando Air Base in Batangas province, south of the Philippine capital.
“Both aircraft went down within the base perimeter, with no other casualties reported,” Philippine Air Force spokesman Colonel Alvin Capinguian said in a statement on Saturday (October 24).
The crash prompted an investigation to establish what caused the aircraft to go down. The Philippine Air Force has also temporarily grounded its fleet of SF-260 aircraft as a precaution while the investigation continues. ICA/Expat Media
