ABU DHABI – China’s Sinopharm vaccine for Covid-19 is now being offered on voluntary basis in Abu Dhabi health centres and clinics run by public hospital group Seha.
Details of a nationwide roll-out are yet to be announced.
Here’s all we know so far
The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has registered for use China’s Sinopharm vaccine for Covid-19 after phase 3 trials involving 31,000 volunteers. This paves the way for mass testing to “comprehensively protect the population”.
The Sinopharm vaccine was created by research group Beijing Institute of Biological Products and Sinopharm, one of China’s biggest drug makers.
The vaccine has been found to be 86 percent effective against Covid-19.
According to analysis from phase 3 trials, the vaccine “shows no serious safety concerns” to users.
No. It is currently being offered on voluntary basis.
You can call Seha’s customer toll free number 80050 to book an appointment. Vaccination is available in Government clinics and health centres in Abu Dhabi from 8am to 8pm.
You will receive one vaccine shot, followed by a second one after 21 days. Following the second jab, you will be tested for antibodies.
You must provide a negative Covid-19 test report before receiving the vaccine. You must show your Emirates ID and ministry health card (from Tasheel Health Centres). You can receive the vaccine from medical centres located in the emirate where your visa was issued.
