DUBAI – UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has posted two never-before-seen photos of his brother, the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a touching tribute.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed posted two black and white photos on Twitter on Tuesday.

One photo shows Sheikh Khalifa walking alongside their father Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan; while another showed Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed walking alongside his older brother.

Sheikh Mohamed described the late Sheikh Khalifa as the “heart of our family and the guardian of our nation” with his “enduring wisdom and generosity”.

Sheikh Khalifa died on Friday (May 13) at the age of 73. The UAE declared a 40-day mourning period.

“He was loved greatly and will be deeply missed, but his remarkable legacy will live on forever. May God grant him eternal peace,” Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said in the caption.

The new UAE President said his brother was his “mentor”.

“My brother and mentor, and the UAE’s first son, we were blessed by your strength, wisdom and leadership. May God have mercy on your soul and may you rest in peace,” Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said. ICA/Expat Media
