The Sharjah Police has cancelled all traffic violations committed during heavy rain and flooding last week and is offering a free car-damage certificate

According to Sharjah Police, it is waiving all traffic violations during the period. Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief, said the move is aimed to help ease the burden on flood-hit residents.

Floodwaters brought by the incessant rain left roads submerged and forced hundreds of motorists to abandon their vehicles.

The UAE grappled with adverse weather conditions from April 15, which intensified on April 16 and sparked widespread flooding. According to authorities, the heavy rain on April 16 was the highest rainfall level ever recorded in the UAE in 75 years.
