Ras Al Khaimah to impose stricter traffic rules starting March 1

Ras Al Khaimah will impose stricter traffic rules where violators will face vehicle confiscation as well as fines of up to Dh20,000 starting March 1.

Under the new rules, motorists who take part in unauthorized parades will have their vehicle confiscated for a period of 15 to 20 days, plus a fine of Dh1,000 to Dh10,000.

Motorists driving a vehicle without a number plate, or a fake number plate will have their vehicle seized for 120 days, and fined Dh20,000.

Illegal car modifications will also lead to vehicle confiscation for 60 days and a fine of Dh5,000. The new rules also include penalties for abandoned vehicles in undesignated areas, like public and private roads. ICA/Expat Media
