The family of a 5-year-old girl who died in a car crash in Dubai will conduct her funeral in Jebel Ali on Wednesday (February 28).

Naomi Jobin Babu was in the car with her family after they landed in Dubai on Friday (February 23) when their vehicle overturned and crashed due to a burst tyre.

The family had just arrived from a holiday in Kerala, India where they attended two family weddings when the accident happened shortly after they left Dubai International Airport.

Naomi’s uncle was driving the vehicle, which also carried her twin brother, elder sister and their mother. Her father and authorities said that during the trip, one of the tyres burst, which caused the vehicle to spiral out of control and overturn. The impact of the crash killed Naomi, and injured the others. The accident happened in the Rashidiya area as they were heading home to Sharjah.

Tributes have poured in for Naomi, who attended kindergarten at Sharjah Indian School. Her family said the funeral has been scheduled to accommodate relatives from India who are coming to pay their last respects. ICA/Expat Media
