The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) suspended the Php 2,000 Expanded Compulsory Insurance Coverage for returning OFWs.
Paramount Life & General Insurance Corporation (PLGIC), one of the insurance companies recognized by POEA to provide insurance to OFWs, temporarily suspended the insurance due to the “improved status of world health,” as well as the extensive vaccine rollout and the opening of borders.
The suspension is directed to make the insurance package and services more beneficial to the needs of OFWs.
In March 2022, POEA implemented the insurance for rehires and direct hires as part of the Covid-19 pandemic measure organized by the government.
The insurance aimed to protect and ensure the safety of OFWs amid the global health crisis. BKM/ Expat Media
