A 41-year-old Filipina bound for Dubai was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after immigration officers discovered an outstanding warrant linked to illegal recruitment and estafa cases dating back to 2016.
The woman was intercepted on September 27 at NAIA Terminal 3 during immigration screening after an alias warrant was flagged, according to the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.
She was subsequently turned over to NAIA Police Station 3, which coordinated with the Manila Police District’s District Investigation and Detection Management Division Crime Investigation Section (DIDMD CIS) to implement the warrant.
Court records showed that the warrant was issued on May 17, 2016, over two counts of illegal recruitment and two counts of estafa. The recommended bail was set at ₱86,000. Authorities did not release further details about the cases.
The woman remains under the custody of the Manila Police District’s DIDMD CIS and faces legal action.
Police Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome Jr., director of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, said airports would continue to be monitored for wanted persons.
“We will continue to intensify the campaign against wanted persons and ensure that airports will not become a means to evade the law,” Bartolome said in Filipino. ICA/Expat Media
