First 24-hour Indian resto lounge opens in Dubai

It feels like home in a pub. That’s exactly what you will experience as soon as you step into The Permit Room, the first 24-hour Indian fusion resto lounge in Dubai.

Expatmedia.net was invited to the launch of The Permit Room at Majestic City Retreat Hotel in Mankhool over the weekend, and we were instantly drawn by the vibe.

The Permit Room features indoor seating areas reminiscent of British India as well as a quirky outdoor terrace that feels like an art gallery. We opted for indoor seating since it was too hot when we visited.

The décor is eclectic and makes for a good conversation starter. We spotted a gramophone, and an old-school telephone that an influencer quickly used as props for her video.

A resident DJ provided modern Indian beats while staff served us Indian delights from Bar Baar’s signature menu based on the coastal region of India. We loved the Chettinad Chicken.

We were also served shisha, which we enjoyed along with their inventive drinks.

Perhaps on our next visit we can try that outdoor terrace and see if anyone brings their pet along. Yes, The Permit Room is pet friendly, too. ICA/Expat Media
