The Department of Health Abu Dhabi has closed a health centre and health complex over several safety violations, including the use of expired items.
The authority did not name the facilities but said that they also failed to follow strict rules in medical waste disposal, including the storage of containers of blood.
The two facilities were found to be using expired medical items and lacked qualified medical professionals. They also failed to implement effective infection control measures.
An investigation revealed that medical staff did not have prescribed vaccinations, while the facilities did not comply with Department of Health’s technical and engineering guidelines.
The Department of Health Abu Dhabi said the health facilities will remain closed until they correct their violations and improve hygiene and safety.
“This decision came mainly to protect the health and safety of patients, and to allow the facilities to take all necessary rectification actions,” according to the Department of Health in a statement. ICA/Expat Media
