DUBAI – An Asian man is on trial after impaling his colleague with the tines of an excavator at a construction site in Fujairah.
At the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court, the man denied intentionally trying to hurt his African colleague during the incident.
The excavator had impaled the man in the stomach.
In his testimony, the man said that he was trying to replace the battery of the excavator while his colleague was clearing the way for the equipment.
Two witnesses corroborated his claim, saying that “something wrong happened” which resulted in the accident.
However, the African victim insisted that his colleague wanted to hurt him by “turning a blind eye to safety procedures”.
The hearing resumes next week when the court is expected to issue a verdict. ICA/Expat Media
