Expat Media, one of the fastest growing media companies in the UAE, congratulated the fourth batch of college students who completed its internship programme.
The latest group of interns is from Cebu Technological University (CTU), the newest Philippine university to sign an internship agreement with Expat Media. The media company also has an internship agreement with the University of San Jose-Recoletos.
CTU’s Dussel Maris Mortejo won Expat Media’s Journalism Award by unanimous vote for her exemplary writing and editing work and team leadership during the internship period.
Expat Media’s internship programme, which began in 2021, provides an opportunity for Communication and Journalism students in the UAE and the Philippines to explore a career in the media industry and acquire practical job competencies in online news writing and online news publishing. The internship also covers magazine feature writing, website management and social media.
“We have designed our internship to give value to students who want to explore a career in the media industry. Going into our internship, they are mentored and given the chance to acquire new skills in online news publishing, while developing their skills in news and feature writing, time management, communication, leadership and teamwork,” said Florence Pia Yu, Editor-in-Chief of Expat Media.
Mars Yabut De Los Santos, CEO & Executive Editor of Expat Media, added: “As part of our corporate social responsibility, our internship program is aimed at helping inspire future media men and women to reach their full potential and develop best practices that can improve today’s ever evolving media industry.”
