Dubai-Abu Dhabi service now operating
Etihad Rail opened its Dubai-Abu Dhabi passenger service on Wednesday (September 30), connecting Al Yalayis Station near Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai with Mohamed bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi.
Five services are scheduled in each direction daily. The first train from Dubai to Abu Dhabi is listed at 6:13am, with the last at 6:14pm. From Abu Dhabi, the first service departs at 6:43am and the last at 5:45pm.
One of the key features for Dubai commuters is the connection between Al Yalayis Station and the Dubai Metro Red Line via a 400-metre elevated pedestrian walkway. The station is also planned to connect with the future Gold Metro Line when it opens in 2032.
Sharjah’s Al Dhaid Station also began passenger operations on September 30. The journey between Al Dhaid and Fujairah takes about 25 minutes, with Comfort Class fares for morning journeys starting at Dh19 and Premium Class fares at Dh79, according to the supplied fare information.
The launch forms part of the phased expansion of the UAE’s national passenger rail network, which began operating between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah in June. Further stations are planned as the network develops, including Al Dhafra in December 2026 and Sharjah in March 2027. ICA/Expat Media
