Travellers will soon be able to begin their Etihad Rail journeys from Dubai, with tickets now on sale ahead of the September 30 opening of Al Yalayis Station.

The station, located in Jumeirah Golf Estates near Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311), is within reach of communities including Al Furjan, Dubai Investment Park and Dubai South.

Passengers can book through the Etihad Rail website or app. Fares from Dubai to Abu Dhabi start at Dh39 for Comfort Class and Dh109 for Premium Class.

The first train from Dubai to Abu Dhabi is scheduled to depart at 6:15am, with four additional services available to book throughout the day. The journey is expected to take one hour and four minutes. Passengers travelling from Dubai towards Fujairah will initially have one service available, with a journey time of about one hour and 10 minutes.

What passengers get onboard

Etihad Rail offers Comfort and Premium classes, with different onboard facilities.

Comfort Class includes complimentary Wi-Fi, power sockets at every seat and a food and beverage trolley service.

Premium Class offers wider reclining seats, additional legroom, complimentary refreshments and snacks, and a quieter cabin environment. Travellers can also choose from Saver, Value and Flex ticket options. Saver tickets have automatically assigned seats and are non-refundable, with no changes permitted.

More stations join the passenger network

Al Yalayis Station is scheduled to open alongside Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah on September 30.

A second Etihad Rail station is planned for Meydan, where it is expected to connect with the upcoming Dubai Metro Gold Line, scheduled for completion in 2032.

Etihad Rail’s first passenger service began on June 30, with an inaugural train departing Fujairah Station at 5:34am and arriving at Mohamed bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi at 7:19am. The approximately 250km journey took around one hour and 45 minutes, with the train arriving ahead of schedule.

Etihad Rail previously reported that more than 10,000 tickets had been sold ahead of the first day of passenger operations, when six services were scheduled.

Planned connection to Dubai Metro

Al Yalayis Station is also planned to connect with Dubai’s urban transport network.

A dedicated pedestrian bridge is under construction to link the rail station with Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line, allowing passengers to transfer between Etihad Rail and the Dubai Metro.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has previously confirmed that the Nol card system is ready for integration with Etihad Rail. This would allow passengers to use their Nol cards across metro, bus, taxi and rail services. ICA/Expat Media
