Ely Buendia shares his thoughts on Eraserheads, music career, passion

Ely Buendia, a singer-songwriter, talked about Eraserheads, passion, and music career in an interview with Expatmedia.net. Buendia recently serenaded his Filipino fans in Dubai during his Legendary Concert last February 4.

Buendia is a former member and lead vocalist of Eraserheads, who wrote the band’s popular songs, including Ang Huling El Bimbo, Pare Ko, Magasin, With a Smile, Alapaap, Ligaya, and Toyang.

On Eraserheads

An Eraserheads concert after 2009 seemed impossible until it happened last December 22, 2022. Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro, members of the iconic OPM band, performed a one-night-only show at the SMDC Festival Grounds, Philippines.

“It was a great reunion–I really enjoyed it. [The concert] was very historical because there were 75,000 people in attendance there. We are just very happy to see the fans and to play for them,” Buendia told Expatmedia.net in Dubai. The singer did not hint if there was another reunion coming up.

On music career

In his 34 years in the music industry, the former Eraserheads member is grateful to his fans for supporting him throughout his career, from listening to his songs to watching his concerts.

“It’s been an up and down, but I’ve been very blessed to have a long-lasting career…I’m just really grateful,” he said.

Buendia continued to live in people’s hearts with his songs that captured many people of different ages.

When asked by Expatmedia.net if there is anything else he would like to accomplish, he said he wants to keep going and do the things he loves as an artist.

On passion

Buendia said he would like to be remembered as “someone who cannot be forgotten.” His passion for music is really something that takes people down memory lane.

When people recall the iconic OPM bands of the Philippines, Eraserheads would be on the top list. Their songs are valued by the people, not just in the Philippines but also by their fans worldwide.

Despite the popularity of Buendia as a singer-songwriter, he said, “The best is always to come.”
