A European man has been jailed in Dubai for selling South Korean work visas on TikTok and defrauding two people of Dh32,000.
A court in Dubai sentenced the 23-year-old man to two months in jail and also fined him Dh32,000. He will be deported after serving his jail term.
Authorities said the European man was in the UAE on visit visa. He advertised discounted South Korean work visas on TikTok and claimed that he worked in the travel and tourism industry.
One of his victims reported him to the police after he and his friend gave him Dh32,000 as payment for a visa that the European man never delivered.
The duo said that the man kept on promising them the visas before finally admitting that he was unable to get it for them. When the victims asked for a refund, he ignored their calls.
During interrogation, the European man denied receiving money from the duo, but admitted that he posted fake advertising videos on TikTok. ICA/Expat Media
