Dubai: Filipinos take oath as elected officers of Filipino Social Club

Newly elected officers of Filipino Social Club (FilSoc) in Dubai took their oath of office in the presence of officials and dignitaries.

The oath-taking ceremony on Sunday (September 17) was attended by Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver, who shared valuable insights and motivation for officers of the non-profit group. The event also featured performances from the World Championships of Performing Arts-UAE.

Ericson Reyes retained his post as FilSoc President. “I’m greatly humbled to be serving for another term as President of FilSoc. I am looking forward to work collaboratively with the new set of officers. We have many plans in store to drive greater impact toward strengthening connections with the different sectors of the Filipino community and with other nationalities,” Reyes said.

The event drew more than 200 attendees from different sectors of the UAE and the Filipino community, including representatives from Community Development Authority, Philippine Embassy, Philippine Consulate General Dubai and Northern Emirates, Department of Migrant Workers, Dubai Police, Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Islamic Culture, Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department, Philippine Business Council Dubai, Pakistan Association and other groups.

“We are excited and grateful for the positive response from the community and coming together to support FilSoc in our mission of bringing unity, creating opportunities for collaboration, and making a beneficial relationship between various groups,” said Ellanie Villena, the new Vice-President of FilSoc.

FilSoc said it remains “steadfast in its commitment in bringing together the various Filipino groups under one umbrella organization to advance the welfare of its members while promoting the Filipino culture in our host country.” ICA/Expat Media
