Dubai to deport 3 Asian expats for kidnapping, robbery

Three Asian men will be deported from Dubai for kidnapping a man and robbing him of Dh8,000, a Dubai court has ruled.

The Dubai Criminal Court on Monday (September 25) sentenced the trio to six months in jail, followed by deportation, and a fine of Dh8,000.

The case dates back to October last year when the trio were spotted kidnapping a man and forcing him into a vehicle. An Arab witness, who noted down the car’s plate number, alerted police about the incident.

Police were able to track down the vehicle’s owner, who denied any connection with the crime. He told police that his friend had borrowed his car on the day of the incident.

Police were able to track down the man’s friend, along with two other men who were caught with the locked-up victim. The three Asians were immediately arrested.

During interrogation, the victim told police that he had failed to repay the Dh10,000 that he borrowed from one of the men, which resulted in them assaulting him and robbing him of Dh8,000 on the day of the incident. ICA/Expat Media
