With the Dubai Police receiving thousands of calls per day, the police force is urging residents to help save lives by dialing 901 for non-emergency calls instead of the emergency hotline 999.

Speaking to Expat Media, Lt. Wafa Qaid Nasser AlQamesh of Dubai Police said that residents and tourists alike can call 901 in non-emergency situations.

“We work 24/7 and provide 33 services. For any suggestion or for any help you need, you can call us,” Lt. AlQamesh said, adding that callers can also dial 901 for help with any question on government services or to place suggestions or complaints.

The 901 is Dubai Police’s helpline for non-emergency calls and requests, including help in minor traffic accidents, traffic clearance issuance, fine inquiries, home security services and more.

The number can also be used to place an alert with Dubai Police’s Port Police Station, Lt. Ghanim Almheiri told Expat Media.

Lt. Almheiri said the service is particularly useful to those going sailing. “You can give us your full details so it is easy to track you in case of emergencies,” he said. He said that residents and tourists can call in case they run into a problem out at sea. The police officer said that Dubai Police’s Port Police patrols are able to respond and reach the area within five minutes.
