DUBAI – An Emirati dhow built on the Dubai Creek has been named as the largest of its kind in the world, according to the Guinness World Records.
The dhow, named after Emirati ship builder Obaid Jumaa bin Majid Al Falasi, spans 91 metres and is as tall as 11 metres.
The wooden vessel can carry up to 2,500 tonnes and has been designed to ship goods from the UAE to Egypt, India, Iraq, Kenya, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
