DUBAI – Dubai Police has arrested three European gang members behind a Dh13 million burglary of a car showroom in the emirate.
The gang members stole motorcycles, jewellery and expensive watches in the showroom. The suspects were arrested in less than 10 hours after the crime was reported, according to Dubai Police.
Lt. General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, said that police were also able to retrieve the stolen valuables. The suspects were tracked with the help of Artificial Intelligence technology.
The gang “took advantage of the showroom’s weak security measures” to carry out the burglary “in record time”, said Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at the Dubai Police.
Al Mansouri described the European gang members as “experienced thieves”.
Al Mansouri said the gang broke through the showroom’s glass barrier in record time and stole motorcycles without leaving a trace.
An Arab employee at the showroom had alerted police of the burglary after noticing that the display cases that held the valuable items were broken. ICA/Expat Media
