Construction worker receives Dh250,000 compensation for work-related injuries

Due to workplace injuries, a construction worker has received compensation worth Dh250,000.

After a water pipe fell on him while he was on duty, his right leg had to be amputated.

The employee claimed that the incident was brought on by the company failing to provide the appropriate safety precautions at the site.

The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal confirmed a prior decision made by the Court of First Instance requiring the company to pay the man for physical and moral damages.

According to official court documents, the Asian man sued the company and asked for Dh4.3 million in damages for physical, moral, and material damages.

Authorities’ investigations have revealed that the company was negligent and failed to give site workers the necessary safety and security precautions.

The Court of First Instance ordered the company to pay the employee Dh250,000 as damages compensation. The corporation, however, appealed the decision to the appeals court, which upheld the lower court’s decision. BKM/ Expat Media
