DUBAI – Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, lit up in tribute to football legend Diego Maradona on Friday (November 27).
Maradona died of a heart attack at his home in Tigre, Argentina on Wednesday. He recently underwent brain surgery.
The late Argentinian football legend was buried at the Jardin Bella Vista cemetery, in Buenos Aires province on Thursday.
Thousands of fans paid tribute to Maradona following his death. In Dubai, his images were projected on to the Burj Khalifa in towering tribute.
Popular restaurateur Salt Bae also honoured Maradona by permanently reserving his favorite table at his Dubai restaurant.
Maradona was appointed coach of the local Al Wasl team in Fujairah in 2010, putting the UAE on the global map for football.
