Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is coming to Dubai later this month and the Philippine Consulate is launching a registration for the public to meet him at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Philippine Consul General Renato Dueñas confirmed that Marcos is coming to Dubai to participate in global climate conference COP28. “This is the first time that the president will be coming here in 15 years,” Dueñas said.
The Philippine president will meet the public and the Filipino community in the UAE at the Dubai World Trade Centre on November 30. He will be joined by Philippine Cabinet members.
The meeting will be open to the public on a “first come, first serve” basis, said the Philippine Consul General in Dubai. “There’s going to be limited slots,” Dueñas said. Registration is now open at meetfilcom2023.timetap.com
COP28 will run from November 30 to December 12 at Expo City Dubai. The scheduled visit will be Marcos’ first official visit to the UAE.
In August, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver, in an Op-ed piece sent to Expatmedia.net, confirmed that Marcos accepted UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s invitation to attend the COP28 event that the UAE is hosting.
“The upcoming visit of President Marcos to the UAE for COP28 further opens opportunities for sustainable development cooperation, and we are hoping that the MOU on Climate Change Cooperation which the Philippines is proposing to the UAE, as well as the Framework Agreement on Renewable Energy, will be signed during this visit,” Ver said.
