Ajman fraudsters behind Dh2.8 million scam arrested


DUBAI – Two men and a woman were arrested for pretending to be bank representatives and calling victims to dupe them of a total of Dh2.8 million, according to Ajman Police.

The fraudsters were arrested during a raid of their apartment in the Al Nuaimiya area of Ajman. Police also seized 21 mobile phones, passports, a laptop and tablet, and some cash and jewellery in their possession.

According to 
Ajman Police, the Asian suspects called victims and tricked them into giving their bank details, after which they would withdraw money from their bank account.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, said one of the victims complained that she lost Dh10,000 from the fraud.

Police said the gang members were able to embezzle a total of Dh2.8 million from the bank accounts of several victims.
