Abu Dhabi shuts down Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant over insects

The Desi Pak Punjab Restaurant has been shut down in Abu Dhabi after inspectors found insects in the restaurant, according to the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority.

According to the authority, there was an insect infestation in the food preparation area. Inspectors also found that the restaurant had poor ventilation and general cleanliness.

The restaurant is the latest in a series of restaurants and food establishments shut down in Abu Dhabi as part of an emirate-wide campaign on food safety in the capital.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority said that inspections are ongoing, and also covers Al Ain and Al Dhafra region.

The announcement on Friday coincides with World Food Safety Day on June 7, with the authority reaffirming its commitment to providing safe and healthy food for residents and tourists alike. ICA/Expat Media
