DUBAI – Abu Dhabi Police will cordon off the Mina Zayed area ahead of the demolition of the abandoned Mina Plaza towers on November 27.
The Mina Plaza will be demolished within seconds using controlled explosives.
Buildings in the area will be temporarily closed from November 26 as part of safety measures. U-turns on the main street of Mina Zayed have also been blocked starting this week.
The demolition job of the Abu Dhabi development comes 13 years after construction started.
Mina Zayed will now be transformed into a 3-million sqm tourism and commercial hub.
Majority of the redevelopment will create a prime seafront area, while souqs and markets for fish, fruit and vegetables will be built and existing structures refurbished. ICA/Expat Media
