DUBAI – Man of the Philippines-UAE Ramzy Hesham Villegas showed us his adorable flipside when the 21-year-old title holder visited the Expatmedia.net office in Downtown Dubai recently.
The Filipino, who was raised in the UAE, said he lives in the emirate with his mother and grandmother, whose cooking he absolutely can’t live without. Here are 47 things you probably didn’t know about the young heartthrob, including his secret talent:
Villegas, one of the favourites to win the pageant, finally claimed the title on his second bid at Man of the Philippines-UAE, besting 14 other finalists in a tight competition last September 10.
“It doesn’t matter how many times you fall down, as long as there is still tomorrow, you can still keep on moving forward,” he told Expatmedia.net.
Villegas thanked his friends, team and family for their support, including his father who he said named him Ramzy Hesham. “It’s my dad’s name. That’s Arabic tradition,” he said, referring to how he got his second name.
When asked to describe himself in one word, he answers: “Tenacious”.
He speaks English and Tagalog. His favorite Filipino word? “Mahal kita (I love you),” he said. His celebrity crush? Liza Soberano.
Would he rather win one million dirhams or find true love? “Aww, come on! One million dirhams! True love is on the way, trust me!” he said.
The graphic design and multimedia student at University of Sharjah said despite his playful demeanour, he takes his studies seriously. What kind of student would he say he is? “Definitely the hard working one, you know what I mean?” he teased.
But he does love hanging out at Dubai Mall with his friends during his free time. Or make music and play on the guitar.
Right now, he is busy prepping himself up for the next pageant, Man of the Philippines National Pageant, in Manila.
He’s not a big fashionista, but says he loves wearing “really tight t-shirts, jeans and Jordans”. Speaking of shoes, he owns 12 pairs, “most of them Jordans”.
His biggest dream? To travel the world. But first things first, he said. On top of his bucket list of things to achieve is “to first graduate and make my mama proud”. PIA/Expat Media
