Twelve outstanding women in the UAE and Expat Media were awarded in the recent Women in Power Awards in Dubai’s Souk Al Marfa.
The Women in Power Awards, organized by Events4Change UAE together with Thai Souq, Souk Al Marfa and D’Portal Events Management, aims to honor outstanding women who “make our world better.”
Organisers say this year’s awardees have made a difference with their “common passion to support and empower those who find it challenging to voice out their needs and they use their platform and position to serve and raise awareness on their chosen advocacies.”
The awardees underwent stringent selection and voting by a distinguished panel of judges, including Professor Dr. Arthur Kurt Eilers, Group Executive Chairman of Bestar Holding Group and Group CEO at Corax Trading Netherlands.
Expat Media received the award for its public service via credible news and information for residents and visitors to the UAE. “The UAE-based media company is managed by a group of strong and commited public service women who are instrumental in keeping the public informed and updated on current events and policies,” organisers said.
The Women in Power award also went to Marissa Postre, the UAE’s “Recycling Mom” who creates fashion masterpieces using discarded items. Postre, who has worked in the UAE in the last 42 years, empowers other household service workers by allowing them to wear her gowns during events.
Another notable awardee is Feby Gachero Baguisa Dela Peña. As Expat Media first reported, the Filipina gave free food during the pandemic.
