After being convicted of attempting to kidnap and murder their partner’s sister, the Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian gang to three years in prison, followed by deportation after they served their terms.
A deliveryman intervened and saved her, foiling the gang’s effort.
The case began in December 2021, when a delivery man reported a woman being kidnapped by compatriots in International City.
During the interrogations, he stated that he witnessed some individuals stopping a woman on the road and threatening her with electric shocks in order to force her to accompany them against her choice.
The suspects were apprehended by the police, one of them turned out to be the victim’s brother.
Two suspects admitted during the interrogation that the victim’s brother had brought them from their home country to assist him in kidnapping his sister for Dhs15,000 apiece.
Each of them is said to have received Dhs5,000, a plane ticket, and a place to stay.
The suspect admitted that he meant to compel his sister to repay him the money she had borrowed from him, and that they rented a vehicle for Dhs2000 per month from a fellow citizen.
He said that they have altered the vehicle plate numbers to utilize it safely in monitoring the victim, and they spotted her coming to her office where they performed their crime on the day of the occurrence.
He planned the crime and enlisted the cooperation of the other suspects, but their plan was foiled when the victim was saved by the delivery man, he admitted. KMB/Expat Media
