DUBAI – A woman had given birth onboard an Emirates repatriation flight headed to Lagos from Dubai on Wednesday (May 6).
According to Emirates, the woman gave birth to a baby boy onboard flight EK783 after takeoff at 10:55am.
The flight was carrying 256 Nigerians repatriated from the UAE where they have been stranded after airports closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The plane, one of several special repatriation flights by Emirates, was diverted back to Dubai International 33 minutes after the woman gave birth onboard the aircraft.
“The aircraft was changed and re-departed for Lagos with a delay of approximately four hours,” an Emirates airline spokesperson said.
